  We are frequently asked...

Camera Position

We need two angles for our service, a front view and a side view.

Front View

The camera would ideally be placed just above the board, pointing directly at the participant from a minimum of the waist upward, if however you cannot get the waist into the shot, concentrate on getting the whole motion of the arm in the shot.

The reason for this is so that we can check alignment, path of throwing arm and wrist movement.

For an example of an ideal video take a look here.  A snapshot of what we require is below:

Side View

For this we need you to capture the entire motion from head to toe including the entire path of the dart arm through to the follow through phase.

This is to check stance and the overall dynamics of the throw.

Tips for Better Clips

Background and Clothing

You need to think about the background and what you are wearing. Tighter fitting tops are better as baggy tops can mask movement. Also if the background is dark and poorly lit, wear a light colour top. This makes it easier to distinguish between you and what is behind you.

Video Requirements

We only need three sets of throws from the front view and three from the side view. Please film as many as you like but ensure we get a copy of your “typical throw”.

Ideally we would like you to load up avi files. These are the files produced by most video cameras and phones. Our system will take all types of video clips if you cannot produce avi files.

Where do I put the Camera or Phone?

Obviously if you don't have the `right kit`, such as tripods or clips you need to be inventive. A willing partner to hold the camera for you is an option for the side shot. Not for the one face on mind!

You should be able to stand the camera on top of the cabinet or a chair or on top of the board for a face on shot – blue tac, sellotape and your imagination is going to help. Please let us know if you come up with a great idea, we will add it here!

Quality

The better quality video you can supply us the more we can do with it. Please try to get the best you can with the kit that you have. However, if we cannot use the video you supply we will refund you the cost of your analysis!

Trim Your Video

If you can trim the footage to just include the bits you want us to look at, that would be a tremendous help. It will make it easier to upload too.

There is some good advice here on how to reduce your file size as well as some free trial software to reduce the size of your files.

Struggling ?

We have had a number of clients who have not got the room around their board to film or simply don't have access to video filming kit. No problem ! Come and visit us at one of our video analysis on tour dates.

Come along to the venue and you can have your analysis carried out there and then or we will video you and send you a report later. Check out the dates and venues here.
